A One-Minute Tour of Bath, Maine!
We met at City Hall for a quick orientation. It’s always shady in the mornings, so we moved across the street for the actual shoot.
“What are you doing next Monday at 1030am? I need a favor…” This was my query to a dozen or so friends, neighbors, former tour participants, colleagues, spouses of colleagues, friends of friends and friendly people as I aimed to gather a diverse group for an Embark promo video this summer.
In my 5th season of heralding Bath as the perfect stop on a Maine vacation, I find there are still a few people who don’t know about the City of Ships and all it has to offer. I have had some success with Facebook ads before so thought I would put together a little tour for the purposes of making a one-minute video “sneak peek” promo of my tour to use in ads and give people an idea of what to expect.
Did you know you can hear the works of the Hallet Clock at its base? I recommend the east side of the base for the best listening experience.
Participants arrived at the appointed hour at Bath’s City Hall, dressed in their best “what someone on vacation would wear” attire. The first move we had to make was to start the tour across the street, as City Hall is still shaded at that hour. But we proceeded from there, with some fun banter, great stories, connections to today, and role playing. We even picked up a few participants along the way.
A hidden spot - my tour doesn’t normally take the route shown above! We took some shortcuts on the route to accommodate the shots we were looking for.
My friend Bree points to something on the Kennebec River (important to have “action/movement” in the shots). I love the sun hats she and my colleague Mandy chose for the occasion!
A big shout out goes to Jeff Cutler - Bath’s friendly videographer, photographer, drone guy, extraordinaire who handled camera duties! I made three versions of the ad - all on CapCut on my iPad.
There are two different openings and one has an AI voice narration. (Not bad, but I have now learned there is a tweak I can make so her voice has more intonation. I think her name is Joan. Or is it Jackie?) Watch them all and be sure to like your favorite!
